Breaking Ground in Victoria

Construction Begins on 500 New Rental Homes and Thrifty Foods at Victoria’s North End

We’re proud to share that Chard and BC Housing have officially broken ground on a transformative new community at the north end of Victoria. Together, we’re delivering over 500 purpose-built rental homes, anchored by a full-format Thrifty Foods grocery store.

This mixed-use development will feature a public plaza, daycare, co-working space, and wellness-focused amenities — all designed to foster connection and support a vibrant, inclusive neighbourhood.

This milestone represents years of collaboration between Chard, BC Housing, Sobeys, and City of Victoria BC, with ITC Construction Group leading construction and TD as our lending partner.

A heartfelt thank-you to Minister of Housing and Municipal Affairs Christine Boyle and Mayor Marianne Alto for joining us to mark this exciting next chapter.

At Chard, we’re proud to create spaces that enrich lives, strengthen communities, and go beyond buildings.
